font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; letter-spacing: var( --e-global-typography-text-letter-spacing ); background-color: var( --e-global-color-primary ); word-spacing: 0.1em;\">&nbsp;<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">holder class;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">You made or will make a claim for refugee protection;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">You\u2019ve been recognized as a Convention refugee or protected person by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">You\u2019re allowed to work in Canada&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #ffffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/services\/work-canada\/permit\/temporary\/need-work-permit-work.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">without a work permit<\/a>, but you need a work permit to work in a different job (this does not apply to&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #ffffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/ircc.canada.ca\/english\/helpcentre\/answer.asp?qnum=434&amp;top=16\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">business visitors<\/a>)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">You\u2019re a trader, investor, intra-company transferee or professional under the&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #ffffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.international.gc.ca\/trade-commerce\/trade-agreements-accords-commerciaux\/agr-acc\/cusma-aceum\/index.aspx?lang=eng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canada\u2013United States\u2013Mexico Agreement (CUSMA)<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The second basket may permit apply from inside Canada if your work permit has expired and you first submit an application for the restoration of yoru work permit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Finally, if you do not qualify under the first or second baskets, you may until February 28, 2025 be allowed to apply for your work permit from inside Canada as a visitor if you meet the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/services\/work-canada\/permit\/temporary\/apply.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">qualification rules<\/a> in this respect.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">STEP NO 2: ASSESS YOUR OVERALL IMMIGRATION GOALS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We always advise our clients coming to us for work permit applications that they should Immediately consider their long-term goals. We ask them:<\/p>\n<p>1. Is your plan to come to Canada only to work temporarily and after this return to your home country?<\/p>\n<p>2. Or is your ultimate goal to become a permanent resident of Canada?.<\/p>\n<p>If your objective is permanent residence, you should from the very beginning plan the entirely of your Canadian immigration pathway, from work permit to permanent residence, as these two are practically interlinked insofar as the decisions you will take.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, you may want to work in the province where you would like to reside as a permanent resident.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Many Canadian immigrants mistakenly see the Canadian immigration process as being composed of independent and unrelated steps consisting of first starting with a work permit and then applying for permanent residence.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mechanically, the work permit to permanent residence process is step-by-step. The second objective is the protection and security of Canada&#8217;s labor force for the benefit of Canadians. The conflict arises where economic growth through immigration can potentially harm jobs for Canadians.<\/p>\n<p>These two objectives hence tend to be at opposite ends of an elastic.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In certain cases, mostly for highly skilled and high paying jobs, the elastic will tend to pull towards giving priority to economic growth. Thus, highly skilled workers can at times be hired without a prior evaluation (called the LMIA) of whether hiring a foreign national can harm the Canadian labor market. The work permit is then said to be &#8220;LMIA exempt&#8221;.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In other cases, mostly for lower skilled and lower paying jobs, the elastic will pull towards job protection with the result that Canadian employers wishing to hire foreign nationals will need to submit an application for a labor market impact assessment&nbsp; (LMIA) to Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).<\/p>\n<p>In the latter case, only if ESDC issues a positive or neutral decision on the labor impacts of hiring an immigrant will the issuance of a work permit be possible.<\/p>\n<p>It is important for the foreign national wishing to work in Canada to establish whether an LMIA application will be required as this will affect his (her) work application process and add an additional level of complexity and uncertainty to it.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; letter-spacing: var( --e-global-typography-text-letter-spacing ); background-color: var( --e-global-color-primary ); word-spacing: 0.1em; color: #ff0000;\"><strong><br>STEP NO 7: FIND A JOB IN CANADA<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Finding a job in Canada is perhaps the most challenging part of your work permit process.<\/p>\n<p>You will need to identify a job with an employer who is willing to hire you and take charge of the labor-market impact assessment (LMIA) if required.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re outside Canada, landing a job can be a bit difficult and overwhelming as employers may be unfamiliar with the work permit process and be reluctant not only to hire someone in another country and who they do not know.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, some employers are reluctant to spend money for the labor market impact assessment application ($1,000 government fees plus any professional fees), fearing that the money will be lost if the foreign national does not perform well in the job.<\/p>\n<p>Should you wish help with the process of finding a job, let us know.
